Asymmetrick Arts and Black Hole are delighted to announce the artists for our open-submission, gallery-collaborative exhibition on Main Street in Rockland: Spring Exhibition 2016.  The show will open with a reception on Friday 6 May, and run through Saturday 28 May.

Submitted work has been considered by the jury (Lorraine DeLaney [Colby Museum of Art], Kelly Finlay [Farnsworth Art Museum] and Daniel Kany [freelance writer and critic, Portland Press Herald]), and selections have been made.  We had a very strong entry, with over 300 pieces submitted from over 70 artists.  The show will consist of 80 pieces, representing the work of 44 artists.  We look forward to working with artist and curator Robert Colburn in designing and installing what will be an exciting show.

The galleries would like to take the opportunity to thank all artists for their submissions, and the jury for their efforts and expertise in considering the work.  Rockland continues to grow as an arts destination, attracting visitors, collectors and artists, and the overwhelming support for this exhibition bears evidence of this.  The opportunity for talent, known and unknown and from near and afar, to be seen, is crucial to maintaining all aspects of the city’s fresh and vibrant arts community, both year round and seasonal.

Asymmetrick Arts and Black Hole look forward to Spring Exhibition 2016 building on the success and enthusiasm of last year’s inaugural event, and launching what will be a significant season for the arts in Rockland, Maine.
